A pleated curtain is the most common type of curtain and is characterized by its tightly pleated top edge. The curtain can be mounted on a rail or rod and the pleats are created by a curtain hook on the back. Pleated curtains are a perfect choice if you want a more classic look and can be hung on a curtain rail as well as on a curtain rod. The curtain also does not expand as much as a wave curtain.
A wave curtain is, as it sounds, a curtain that creates beautiful and deep waves, giving a modern and sophisticated look. The even spacing of the waves is most easily achieved on a curtain track with gliding points attached at even distances on a string. Wave curtains are often used to cover larger window areas and are often sewn in sheer fabrics that let in the light while blocking out the view. A wave curtain extends more from the wall than a pleated curtain, but is somewhat easier to bring together into a narrow panel if needed.
A pleated curtain protrudes minimally from the wall. Install the curtain so there are 3-4 centimeters of clearance from the wall or window sill. If you plan to install overlapping pleated curtains, make sure to also leave 3-4 cm between the curtains so they can hang freely.
Wave curtains are more pronounced than pleated curtains. Ensure roughly 8-10 centimeters of clearance on both sides of the curtain rod or track.
We have developed a measurement guide to help you find the perfect curtain length for your home. It gives you specific instructions on how to measure depending on the type of hanging and whether you want drop or floating curtains for your space. To access the guide, go to “measure & buy” once you have found your curtain.
All Veolin's curtains are sold individually with accompanying hooks and weights. We do not provide rails, rods or other hanging solutions.
Absolutely, you can order up to 5 free curtain samples!
Recommendations vary depending on the material, product-specific washing advice is available in each curtain length. When washing in the machine, remember to remove all hooks and the weights located at the bottom of the curtain.
We wash our curtain fabrics before sewing them to minimize further laundry shrinkage on the finished curtain. In some cases, the curtain may shrink another 1-3% which is completely normal.
